Hampstead Fine Arts College opened in 1978 with a deliberate proposition: creative arts and academic subjects deserve equal standing. It runs across two campuses in Belsize Park and Hampstead (NW3), sits within one of London’s most culturally active neighbourhoods, and is part of the Dukes Education group. Around 200 pupils aged 13 to 19 attend as a co-educational day school, and that scale is central to how the college operates. It has received multiple national awards from the Good Schools Guide, and alumni include names recognised across film, television, and the arts.
The college offers GCSEs (Years 9–11), A levels, and a Foundation course. Arts and humanities form the core, with academic subjects running in parallel throughout. Small class sizes are a structural feature, not a marketing claim. They shape how teaching is delivered and how closely staff can track individual progress.
A-level results for 2025 show 38% A*–A, 68% A*–B, and 82% A*–C. Graduates have gone on to universities including Oxford, the London School of Economics, Trinity College Dublin, Central Saint Martins, and Pratt Institute in New York.
The sixth form is the college’s primary focus. International pupils follow the full A-level course at £38,250 per year (2026/27, incl. VAT); UK pupils pay £35,100 per year. A Foundation course is also available for those preparing for undergraduate or art school entry, at the same fee levels. The registration fee is £300 and the deposit is £1,000. Exam fees run to approximately £650 per year.

Hampstead Fine Arts College operates exclusively as a day school with no residential provision. International pupils are placed in homestay arrangements, living with host families in the surrounding north London area. Pastoral oversight is built around individual personal tutors — each pupil is assigned a named tutor who tracks academic progress and wellbeing across their time at the college. With around 200 pupils in total, staff and pupils know one another well, and the personal tutor system forms the backbone of day-to-day pastoral support.
The college’s specialism in the visual arts, music, and drama runs through its co-curricular offer. Achievement in these areas is treated with the same seriousness as academic results. Pupils preparing portfolios for art school entry, including applications to Central Saint Martins, do so with tutor support built into the college’s structure. The NW3 location gives direct access to London’s gallery, theatre, and music venue network. The college draws on this proximity as part of its educational model, not as an incidental benefit.
Across two NW3 sites, facilities are oriented around studio, performance, and academic teaching spaces. Specialist provision covers visual arts, music, and drama. The two-campus structure in Belsize Park and Hampstead allows the college to maintain dedicated spaces for creative and academic work within a single operational community.
